BOISE, Idaho – Forward Colby McAuley has agreed to terms with the Idaho Steelheads for the 2020-21 season, Head Coach and Director of Hockey Operations Everett Sheen announced Thursday.
McAuley, 24, played in 19 games with the Steelheads during the 2019-20 campaign tallying 8 goals and 4 assists for 12 points after being acquired from the Orlando Solar Bears in January.
“After we acquired Colby last season, he wasted no time completely buying into what we preach here in Idaho and we are thrilled to have him back,” said Steelheads Head Coach Everett Sheen. “His Character, work ethic, and personality are what make him a valuable piece to our puzzle. We look forward to having him back in a Steelheads sweater again this season.”
The 6-foot, 185-pound forward began his professional career with the AHL’s San Jose Barracuda and has split his time in the ECHL with the Allen Americans, Orlando Solar Bears, and Idaho Steelheads. Through 125 games in the ECHL McAuley has posted 36 goals and 43 assists for 79 points.
“Going back to Idaho was always on my mind,” said McAuley. “After getting traded last year in January, the boys, coaches and fans were very welcoming. Through my short time being in Boise, I absolutely loved it all as a whole and it reminded me of home. I can’t wait to be back for another season!”
Prior to his professional career, McAuley played for three seasons in the WHL with the Prince George Cougars and was an Alternate Captain during his final two seasons. During his stint with the Cougars, McAuley posted 44 goals, 52 assists for 96 points.
McAuley is the fourth forward agreeing to terms with the Steelheads joining A.J. White, Zach Walker, and Will Merchant. Future player announcements will be made at a later date.
