BOISE, Idaho – The Idaho Steelheads (27-13-3) finished the road portion of one season series and head into their final meeting of the year with the Allen Americans.

Saturday, January 26 @ Wichita Thunder: 3-2 LShots: Steelheads 36, Thunder 25PP: Steelheads 0-for-3, Thunder 0-for-2

The Steelheads fought back late but fell 3-2 to the Thunder from Intrust Bank Arena. The Thunder scored 14 seconds into the game to jump out ahead 1-0 before forward Elgin Pearce (16:00 1st) leveled the scoreline, 1-1. The two sides went back and forth again with the Thunder tallying and forward Brad McClure (3:45 2nd) trading goals before the Thunder edged back ahead, 3-2, which would hold through the rest of the game. Tomas Sholl (15-6-0) halted 22 of 25 shots in the loss.

Sunday, January 27 @ Wichita Thunder: 5-4 WShots: Steelheads 49, Thunder 24PP: Steelheads 1-for-5, Thunder 2-for-4

The Steelheads came back and earned a 5-4 win over the Thunder from Intrust Bank Arena. The Thunder scored early but forwards Spencer Naas (5:40 1st) and Steve McParland (16:54 1st) helped in a see-saw period tied at 2-2 after the opening frame. Defenseman Brady Norrish (10:18 2nd) scored the lone goal for the Steelheads but trailed 4-3 heading into the third period. McParland (0:31 3rd) and forward Brad McClure (PP, 3:07 3rd) pushed the Steelheads ahead, 5-4, and the team held on for the win. Ryan Faragher (6-3-1) halted all 10 shots in relief in the win, and Colton Point stopped 10 of 14 shots..

The Steelheads conclude their season series with the Allen Americans in a three-game set during their lone trip to Texas. The Steelheads took two of three games against the Americans two weeks ago, but the Americans did earn four of six points as well with a pair of overtime losses. The Steelheads and Americans split their season series last year with five wins each, and the Steelheads own a 12-6-3 record against the Americans in the franchise series.

Quick Bites:- Forward Brad McClure is on a four-game goal streak, his second of the season, with two of those goals coming as game-winners. McClure leads the Steelheads in goals (18), points (36) and game-winning goals (5) while owning the longest goal streaks of the year.- Defenseman Keegan Kanzig sits third among all defenseman with a plus-25 rating, which sits as a career-best over last year’s rating in Florida (+22).- The Steelheads have not lost two games in the same week (Monday to Sunday) since the week of November 7 (11 weeks). The Steelheads are 22-6-1 in 29 games since that two-loss week.- The Steelheads are in the midst of their longest road trip of the season spanning three weeks with nine games. So far, the Steelheads are 2-1-0 in the road swing.
