RAPID CITY, S.D. – The Idaho Steelheads (8-7-3) were led by a 23-save shutout by goaltender Tomas Sholl in a 3-0 win over the Rapid City Rush (7-7-3) on Wednesday night from Rushmore Plaza Civic Center.
The Steelheads controlled pacing in the first period by outpacing the Rush in shots even with two fights involving Steelheads forward Kale Kessy and defenseman Clint Lewis. The Steelheads added a third tally in the opening minute of the third period at 0:40 when McClure threw in a rebound for his second goal of the game, tripling the lead to 3-0. The Steelheads shut down the Rush for the rest of the night, taking the win and their first shutout of the season.
Sholl (3-2-0) halted all 23 shots in his fifth professional shutout during the win, and Rush netminder Adam Carlson (4-3-2) turned away
