BOISE, Idaho – The Idaho Steelheads (7-7-3) finished their six-game home stand with points in four-straight games including three contests against the Rapid City Rush, who they will play three more times this week.

Wednesday, November 14 vs. Rapid City Rush: 3-2 L (SO)Shots: Rush 31, Steelheads 43PP: Rush 0-for-3, Steelheads 0-for-4

The Steelheads earned a point during a 3-2 shootout loss from CenturyLink Arena. The Steelheads jumped ahead with the first two goals in the game starting with forward Spencer Naas (12:56 1st) on an open shot in front of the net to take a 1-0 lead. Steelheads forward Kyle Schempp (19:52 1st) followed up with a similar play to double the lead, 2-0. The Rush chipped away with a pair of regulation goals to force overtime then scored both goals in the shootout to take the 3-2 win. Goaltender Colton Point halted 29 of 31 shots in the shootout loss.

Friday, November 16 vs. Rapid City Rush: 3-2 WShots: Rush 22, Steelheads 28PP: Rush 0-for-6, Steelheads 2-for-5

The Steelheads led on special teams to take a 3-2 win from CenturyLink Arena. Steelheads forward Steve McParland (10:05 1st) opened the scoring to snag a 1-0 lead before two goals by Rapid City in the second period game them the lead. The Steelheads followed up with two power play goals from forward A.J. White (PP, 9:47 2nd) on a back door chip on a breakout and defenseman Colton Saucerman (PP, 19:18 2nd), which held as the game-winner to take the 3-2 victory. Tomas Sholl turned away 20 of 22 shots in the win.

Saturday, November 17 vs. Rapid City Rush: 2-1 W (OT)Shots: Rush 29, Steelheads 58PP: Rush 0-for-2, Steelheads 0-for-4

The Steelheads posted a season-high 58 shots en route to a 2-1 overtime win from CenturyLink Arena. For the second-straight game, Steelheads forward Steve McParland (SH, 7:36 1st) garnered the opening tally to take an initial 1-0 lead. The Rush scored late in the first period, and despite 42 shots by the Steelheads in the second and third periods the game went to overtime. Steelheads defenseman Eric Sweetman (1:53 OT) was fed a centering pass for a chip-in to take the game in overtime, 2-1. Colton Point stopped 28 of 29 shots in the win.

The Steelheads head to Rapid City, S.D. to finish their six-game stretch against the Rush crossing over Thanksgiving. The Steelheads took two of three games last week and nabbed five of a possible six points to open the 17-game season series with a 2-0-1 record. The Steelheads have won six of their last seven meetings with the Rush since last season and extend their unbeaten streak to seven games (6-0-1). The Steelheads boast a 28-10-3 record head-to-head.

Teddy Bear Toss: The Steelheads host the annual Teddy Bear Toss on Saturday, Dec. 1 at 7:10 p.m. against the Jacksonville Icemen from CenturyLink Arena. Fans are encouraged to bring new or gently-used stuffed animals to throw on the ice following the first Steelheads goal. All stuffed animals will be donated to Toys For Tots. Quick Bites:- A.J. White was named captain on Wednesday and since has led the team in points (1-2—3) over that span- Steve McParland has scored the game’s opening goal in 2-straight contests, leads the team in points (9-6—15)- The team’s 58 shots in Saturday’s win are the most since Oct. 27, 2017 against the Quad City Mallards (59 shots), and the 22-shot second period and 20-shot third period both eclipsed the team’s previous single-period high this season (45 shots) set on October 14 in Tulsa- The Steelheads finished the home stand with points in five of six games and a 3-1-1-1 record- The Steelheads scored the opening goal in five of six games after only doing so twice in their first 11 contests.
