BOISE, Idaho – Defenseman Ondrej Vala has been recalled by the Dallas Stars (NHL) to the Texas Stars (AHL), Idaho Steelheads Head Coach and Director of Hockey Operations Neil Graham announced on Saturday.
Vala, 20, played six games with the Steelheads during the 2018-19 season, recording one assist with two penalty minutes and a plus-two rating. The Kolin, Czech Republic product made his professional debut with Texas during the 2016-17 season, playing in three games and tallying one assist. The 6-foot-4, 193-pound defenseman skated with Texas this fall during their training camp before being reassigned to Idaho on October 3. Vala is on a NHL contract with Dallas.
The recall is the second to Texas of the season following Nolan Gluchowski’s recall on October 18. The Steelheads finish their two-game weekend tonight at 7:05 p.m. against the Utah Grizzlies from Maverik Center.
