SteelStats - Jefferson Dahl

After four seasons in Boise, Steelheads captain Jefferson Dahl has put together one of the best individual resumes of any player to wear a Steelheads uniform. While he is still chasing a Kelly Cup, he moved closer to that prize this year with the Steelheads’ first playoff series victory in his tenure, while gaining some personal accolades along the way.

Let’s look closer at another impressive campaign for “Dahler”:

210 – Only one man has put up more points in a Steelheads uniform in the ECHL era than Jefferson Dahl. Dahl is tied for second place on the Steelheads’ all-time ECHL scoring list, his 210 points matching Lance Galbraith and still 198 points shy of Marty Flichel’s top mark. Still, with a goal on February 19th in Utah, Dahl became just the sixth player in the 21-year history of the Steelheads to notch 200 points with the franchise.

61 – Dahl led the Steelheads in scoring for the second straight season, notching 61 points in 61 games for the best points-per-game pace of his career. Only Brady Brassart and Cole Ully earned a better scoring pace than Dahl, who led the team with 66 points in 70 games in 2016-17.

8 – The captain led the Steelheads for the second consecutive season with eight games in which he recorded three points or more, one of which was a four-point performance. Dahl only had four 3-point games to lead the Steelheads in 2016-17, but this past year he strung together three consecutive 3-point nights from January 5th to January 10th. Dahl also posted four multi-goal games last season, two on the road and two at CenturyLink Arena.

241 – It was a long time coming, but Jefferson Dahl earned his first call-up to the American Hockey League at the end of the 2017-18 season, signing a professional tryout agreement with the Cleveland Monsters. Prior to the call, Dahl had appeared in 241 regular-season ECHL games waiting for the opportunity. He made the most of it, putting up two goals and four points in seven games with Cleveland.

30 – For a stretch of 18 games between December 2nd and February 2nd, a strong argument could be made that Dahl was the ECHL’s best centerman. In that span, Dahl put up 13 goals and 30 points, including eight multi-point performances and four in a row. At the end of that stretch, Dahl ranked seventh in the league in scoring with 44 points in 37 games.

113 – More than in any other season, Jefferson Dahl’s agitating style gained the attention of opponents, and Dahl did far more than irritate. His 113 penalty minutes led the Steelheads, after he had accumulated just 147 penalty minutes in his first three ECHL seasons combined.

32 – Dahl finished the season plus-7, raising his overall career plus/minus to plus-32. That places him in a tie for seventh-best in Steelheads history, even with Tyler Spurgeon.

3 – Only three players – Marty Flichel, Darrell Hay, and Scott Burt – have played more games for the Steelheads in the ECHL era than Dahl. Jefferson is ten games shy of passing Burt on that list, the captain currently at 241 games.
