Steelheads Team Awards

On Saturday, prior to their regular-season home finale, the Idaho Steelheads recognized their outstanding performers from the 2017-18 season.

CAL INGRAHAM LEADING SCORER AWARD

This award has not yet been given, as it is too close to call. Jefferson Dahl currently leads the team with 61 points. Justin Parizek has posted 57 points, and Steve McParland has collected 55.

ROOKIE OF THE YEAR AWARD - Justin Parizek

Justin Parizek has been among the team's scoring leaders since the first week of the season. He ranks third among all ECHL rookies in scoring, fourth in goals, and tied for third in power play goals. Parizek ranks second on the team in scoring and has notched eleven multipoint performances this year.  He wa voted to his first All-Star game in January.

TOP DEFENSEMAN AWARD- ERIC SWEETMAN

Idaho's rookie blue-liner has put together a dominant second half of the season. Since December 20th, Sweetman has been among the ECHL’s best all-around defensemen with nine goals and 23 points in 41 games, and a plus-25 rating . Sweetman ranks fifth among all rookie defenseman in goals, eighth in points, and third in plus/minus.

STEELHEADS HUSTLE AWARD - CONNOR CHATHAM

Connor Chatham's work ethic and effort not only make him a valuable player but also make the players around him better. Previous winners of the award include Jefferson Dahl and Brian Nugent. Chatham's energy on the forecheck and physical style have resulted in a career year. He has doubled his goal total and nearly doubled his points total from a season ago, while remaining a fixture on the Steelheads penalty kill.

BILL CAMPBELL COMMUNITY SERVICE AWARD - SHANE HANNA

The Bill Campbell Community Service Award is given each season to the Steelheads player who exemplifies the spirit of the organization and works to make the Treasure Valley a better place. This year's winner visited more Treasure Valley elementary schools than any other player. He attended nearly half of the Steelheads' school visits, despite several lengthy stints this year in the American Hockey League.  No Steelhead this season was a more enthusiastic ambassador of the game for the Treasure Valley's youth.

CENTURYLINK THREE STARS AWARD - JEFFERSON DAHL

The CenturyLink Three Stars Award is awarded to the player who was most often named one of the three stars following a Steelheads home game. Dahl was recognized nine times this season on home ice, and was named the game's top star three times this season at CenturyLink Arena. Dahl has spent the season making his mark on the record books. On February 19th, he became the sixth player in Steelheads history to score 200 points in a Steelheads sweater, and he currently ranks third all-time on the Steelheads' ECHL scoring list.

STEELHEADS UNSUNG HERO AWARD - AJ WHITE

White has been a staple in the lineup in his first season with the Steelheads. White has appeared in 68 games this season and has been a force teamed up with this year's Hustle Award winner. He in one of the league's top checking forwards and penalty-killers, and he has chipped in 31 points this year as well.

STEELHEADS MOST VALUABLE PLAYER - BRADY BRASSART

Brady Brassart has been a catalyst on both sides of the puck and is enjoying the best season of his career. Brassart has shattered career-bests in every category, and done so in 47 ECHL games. His 1.11 points per game lead the Steelheads and his plus-25 rating is tied for the lead. Brassart’s nine-game points streak in November was the longest by a Steelhead this season, and at no time during the year did he go more than two games without at least a point. Brassart earned ECHL Player of the Week honors for the first time in his career in March.
