Boise, ID (4/2/18) – Steelheads Head Coach and Director of Hockey Operations Neil Graham confirmed on Monday that forward Jefferson Dahl has been signed to a professional tryout agreement (PTO) with the American Hockey League’s Cleveland Monsters.
The Monsters are the AHL affiliate of the Columbus Blue Jackets. Dahl becomes the eighth Steelhead this season under ECHL contract to sign a tryout agreement with an AHL club. Brady Brassart (Utica), Tommy Thompson (Texas), Justin Parizek (San Jose), Joe Faust (Utica), and Steve McParland (Texas) have all played AHL games on tryout agreements earlier this season, and Henrik Samuelsson (Rockford) and Ryan Faragher (Stockton) are still currently in the AHL.
Dahl, 28, is playing his fourth season in Idaho, and his second as the team’s captain. The Eau Claire, Wisconsin native currently leads the Steelheads in scoring, notching 20 goals and 60 points in 61 games this season. Dahl also led the Steelheads in scoring last season when he recorded 66 points in 70 games.
This is the first AHL call-up of Dahl’s career. He has posted 77 goals and 209 points in 241 ECHL games, all with the Steelheads. This season, Dahl became the sixth Steelhead in team history to record 200 points with the team, and he currently ranks third all-time in Steelheads ECHL scoring.
In a separate roster move, the Steelheads released goaltender Mavric Parks.
