Boise, ID (3/5/17)— The Idaho Steelheads and St. Luke’s are joining forces once again to support cancer research with the annual “Pink in the Rink” Jersey Auction, held on March 9th and 10th at CenturyLink Arena when the Steelheads host the Kansas City Mavericks.
The Steelheads will wear custom-made jerseys during both weekend contests. Fans are welcome to bid on the game-worn jerseys of their favorite players throughout the weekend at a silent auction held on the arena concourse, with auction tables stationed behind Section 113. Bidding will close at the end of the second period on Saturday night, and those who purchase jerseys will receive their prizes from the players themselves during a Project Filter Autograph session following the game.
“St. Luke’s is such a valuable partner for us, both in the care they provide our players and in their charitable support in our community,” said Steelheads President Eric Trapp. “This jersey auction each year brings in vital funds to help in the fight against cancer. It’s a cause that touches all of us on some level, and we’re grateful that St. Luke’s chooses to work with us in their efforts to find a cure.”
All proceeds from the auction will be donated to St. Luke’s Mountain States Tumor Institute to support cancer research. Last season’s “Pink in the Rink” auction raised just under $17,000.
This is the Steelheads’ third specialty jersey auction this season, with the team raising $35,153 through the first two events. The “Pink in the Rink” auction has been among the most popular for Steelheads fans, resulting in $88,355 raised through successful jersey auctions over the past five seasons.
The Steelheads open their three-game home-stand on Wednesday night when they square off against the Allen Americans. For tickets to this weekend’s games, or to purchase tickets for any Steelheads home game, call the Steelheads Front Office at 383-0080 or visit idahosteelheads.com.
