Boise, ID (3/27/18) – The ECHL announced on Tuesday that Idaho Steelheads assistant captain Brady Brassart has been named the Sher-Wood Athletics Group ECHL Player of the Week for the week of March 19-25. It is the first time in Brassart’s career that he has earned the honor.
Brassart, 24, scored a goal and added four assists in two games last week, along with a plus-5 rating. He netted a goal and two assists in Idaho’s 5-0 win over the Rush on Friday and followed that performance with two more assists on Saturday in a 5-2 win over Rapid City.
Playing his first season with the Steelheads, Brassart is having a career year. His 22 goals and 50 points in 45 games are already personal bests, as is his plus-23 rating. Despite missing 22 games this season, largely due to a nine-game call-up to AHL Utica for much of December and January, Brassart still ranks third on the Steelheads in goals and assists, fourth in points, and second in plus/minus rating. His 1.11 points per game lead the team.
A native of Vernon, British Columbia, Brassart is in his fourth full pro season. Prior to joining the Steelheads, Brassart played parts of three seasons with the AHL’s Iowa Wild and the Quad City Mallards. Brassart has totaled 42 goals and 110 points in 138 career ECHL games, and 13 goals and 29 points in 129 AHL games including his nine-game stint with AHL Utica this year.
On behalf of Brady Brassart, a case of pucks will be donated to an Idaho youth hockey organization by Sher-Wood Athletics Group, the exclusive puck supplier of the ECHL. Since beginning its sponsorship of the award in 2000-01, Sher-Wood Athletics Group has donated more than 37,000 pucks to youth hockey organizations in ECHL cities.
