Loveland, CO (1/26/18) – Steelheads Head Coach and Director of Hockey Operations Neil Graham confirmed on Friday that rookie defenseman Shane Hanna and assistant captain Brady Brassart have been returned to Idaho from the American Hockey League, Hanna reassigned by the Texas Stars and Brassart released from his professional tryout agreement with the Utica Comets.
Hanna, 23, was recalled to Texas on December 14th and played 12 games for the Stars, notching two assists and five penalty minutes. The New Westminster, BC native has appeared in 26 games with the Steelheads this season, totaling four goals and 14 points. At the time of his departure, Hanna was tied for second among all ECHL rookie defensemen in scoring.
Brassart, 24, signed his professional tryout agreement with Utica on December 4th. Brassart appeared in nine games with the Comets. The Vernon, BC native has eleven goals and 23 points with Idaho this season in 21 games, and he was leading the Steelheads in scoring when he left for Utica. Brassart still ranks seventh on the team in scoring, despite missing Idaho’s last 20 games.
Brassart has the longest points streak by a Steelhead this season, registering at least a point in nine consecutive games (5-8-13) from October 27th to November 17th.
