Boise, ID (12/16/17) – Steelheads Head Coach and Director of Hockey Operations Neil Graham announced on Saturday that forward Justin Parizek has been signed to a professional tryout agreement (PTO) with the American Hockey League’s San Jose Barracuda.
The Barracuda are the AHL affiliate of the San Jose Sharks. Parizek becomes the fourth ECHL-contracted Steelhead this season to sign a PTO with an AHL team. Tommy Thompson appeared in eight games this season with the Texas Stars, while Joe Faust and Brady Brassart have both appeared with the Utica Comets. Brassart currently remains with Utica.
Parizek, 25, has 12 goals and 23 points in 25 games during his rookie season in Idaho. Parizek ranks tied for third among ECHL rookies in scoring and second in goal-scoring. The Lakeville, Minnesota native has notched at least a point in 17 of Idaho’s 25 games this season, tying for the team lead in scoring and in goals.
The 6-foot-1 forward spent four season at the University of Nebraska-Omaha before turning pro, serving as captain during his senior season and collecting 34 goals and 75 points in 133 NCAA games from 2013 to 2017.
The Steelheads also announced that Forward Mitch Moroz (retroactive to 12/10) and defenseman Aaron Harstad (retroactive to 12/3) have both been placed on 21-day injured reserve.
