Boise, ID (12/12/17) – Steelheads Head Coach and Director of Hockey Operations Neil Graham announced on Tuesday that defenseman Zach Bell has agreed to terms on an ECHL contract and will join the team this week. Bell rejoins the Steelheads after playing parts of the last two seasons in Idaho.
Bell, 24, joined the Steelheads as part of a trade in February 2016, and since then he has played 48 regular-season games for the Steelheads and logged two goals, 15 points, and 95 penalty minutes. The St John's, Newfoundland native was limited to just 32 games last season due to injury, in which he compiled a goal and nine points with 56 penalty minutes, as well as a plus-10 rating.
The fifth-year pro served as an assistant captain with the Steelheads last season. In 123 career ECHL games with Idaho, Ontario, and Orlando, Bell has totaled seven goals, 28 points, and 265 penalty minutes.
