Boise, ID (12/5/17) – Steelheads Head Coach and Director of Hockey Operations Neil Graham announced on Tuesday that forward Brady Brassart will be signed to a professional tryout agreement (PTO) with the American Hockey League’s Utica Comets.
The Comets are the AHL affiliate of the Vancouver Canucks. Brassart was out of the Steelheads’ lineup on Monday night for purposes of the call-up.
Brassart will become the third Steelhead this season under ECHL contract to sign a tryout agreement with an AHL club, with Tommy Thompson currently with the Texas Stars on a PTO and Joe Faust playing two games with the Comets on a PTO in November.
Brassart, 24, is leading the Steelheads in scoring in his first season in Idaho. The Vernon, BC native has 11 goals and 23 points in 21 games this season, currently tied for tenth in the ECHL in scoring. Brassart had the longest points streak by a Steelhead this season, registering at least a point in nine consecutive games (5-8-13) from October 27th to November 17th.
Brassart has played 120 career AHL games with the Iowa Wild, joining the Wild at the end of the 2013-14 season and appearing with them through the end of the 2015-16 season. Brassart totaled 13 goals and 29 points with the Wild. In 114 games with the Steelheads and Quad City Mallards, Brassart has recorded 31 goals and 83 points, along with six assists in nine playoff games with the Mallards.
