Boise, ID (11/7/17) – Steelheads Head Coach and Director of Hockey Operations Neil Graham announced on Tuesday that the Steelheads have acquired the ECHL rights to goaltender Ryan Faragher from the Manchester Monarchs. Faragher is expected to join the Steelheads this week.
Faragher, 27, is in his fourth professional season, having played the past three seasons with the Utah Grizzlies and playing 20 games in the American Hockey League with the San Diego Gulls (2015-16) and then-AHL Norfolk (2014-15). The Fort Frances, Ontario native has compiled a professional record of 57- 48-10.
Faragher has yet to see action this season, but was 17-15-2 last season with Utah. In 103 ECHL games with the Grizzlies, the 6-foor-2 goaltender and former Anaheim Ducks prospect is 51-36-9 with a goals-against average of 2.69, a .908 save percentage, and six shutouts.
Faragher finished the 2015-16 season ranked sixth in the league in wins (24) and tenth in goals-against average (2.33). He earned recognition as the ECHL’s Goaltender of the Week in January 2015, November 2015, and March of 2017.
Faragher signed an NHL contract with the Ducks following three years at St. Cloud State University, where he went 53-34-8. Faragher won a regular-season National Collegiate Hockey Conference championship with St. Cloud State in 2014, also being named Second Team All-Conference.
In a corresponding move, goaltender Branden Komm has been traded to the Quad City Mallards.
