Fyten assigned to Idaho by AHL Texas

Boise, ID (11/21/17) – Steelheads Head Coach and Director of Hockey Operations Neil Graham announced on Tuesday afternoon that forward Austin Fyten has been assigned to Idaho by the American Hockey League’s Texas Stars.

Fyten, 26, has played one game with AHL Texas this season, and was with the Stars for all of last season when he recorded six goals and 12 points in 59 games. The Sundre, Alberta native also spent parts of two seasons with the Steelheads in 2012-13 and 2013-14. The 6-foot-1 forward had 14 goals and 41 points in 46 games for Idaho in 2012-13, and nine goals and 15 points in 15 games the following  year.

Fyten also played 41 games for the South Carolina Stingrays in 2015-16, logging nine goals and 20 points before picking up another 19 points in 19 games in the playoffs while helping lead the Stingrays to an Eastern Conference Finals appearance.

In 188 AHL contests with Texas, Hershey, Lehigh Valley, and Oklahoma City, Fyten has totaled 15 goals and 46 points.
