Thompson signed to professional tryout with AHL Texas

Boise, ID (10/25/17) – Steelheads Head Coach and Director of Hockey Operations Neil Graham announced on Wednesday that forward Tommy Thompson has been signed to a professional tryout agreement with the American Hockey League’s Texas Stars. Thompson is the first Steelheads player on an ECHL contract to be summoned to the AHL this season.

Thompson, 27, has played five games with the Steelheads this season, totaling a goal and two assists. The Londonderry, New Hampshire native attended training camp this year with AHL Texas before reporting to Idaho.

Thompson was acquired by the Steelheads from the Greenville Swamp Rabbits in a trade during the summer. Last year in Greenville, Thompson recorded 16 goals and 33 points in 58 games, as well as three games of AHL action with the Hartford Wolf Pack.
