Steelheads add rookie forwards Dahl and Tedesco

Boise, ID (9/20/17) – Steelheads Head Coach and Director of Hockey Operations Neil Graham announced the addition of two new forwards on Wednesday, confirming that the team has agreed to terms with rookies Alexander Dahl and Daniel Tedesco on ECHL contracts for the 2017-18 season. Dahl and Tedesco are the first rookie players announced by the Steelheads this off-season.

Dahl, 24, has played the last four seasons at St. Lawrence University. The Eau Claire, Wisconsin native served as captain last season during his senior year, notching a goal and nine points in 37 games. He also served as an assistant captain in 2015-16. The 6-foot tall forward has totaled ten goals, 31 points, and 55 penalty minutes in 118 college games.

“Alex is a high-character two-year captain,” said Graham. “He is very cerebral on the ice, and he takes a lot of pride and responsibility in his penalty killing and in key defensive situations.”

Dahl is the younger brother of Steelheads captain Jefferson Dahl.

Tedesco, 23, played the last four seasons at St. Cloud State University, where he had two goals and eight points in 29 games as a senior last year. The 6-foot forward from Vaughan, Ontario also appeared in two games with the Wichita Thunder last spring following the end of his college season, earning four minutes in penalties. In 98 college games, Tedesco recorded eight goals and 24 points, along with 55 penalty minutes.

“Signing with the Steelheads was an easy decision. I’ve heard nothing but great things about Boise and the organization,” said Tedesco. "When Coach Graham reached out to me, he said all the things I needed to hear as a player, and I knew this was where I wanted to play.”

Tedesco was a member of the National Collegiate Hockey Conference championship team at St. Cloud State in 2016.

“Dan has a lot of raw talent and ability,” said Graham. “He worked extremely hard over his four years at St. Cloud, honing his defensive awareness. He was responsible on both sides of the puck.”

The Steelheads now have 12 forwards listed on their off-season roster.
