SteelStats: Rob Linsmayer

After leading the Steelheads in scoring in 2015-16, Rob Linsmayer had another stellar offensive season in Boise last year. Not only was he once again among the Steelheads top offensive performers for last season, but he also continued his steady climb to the top of the Steelheads all-time ECHL lists. Like teammate Jefferson Dahl, Linsmayer finds himself among some of the greatest players to wear a Steelheads sweater.

Let’s take a deeper look at the numbers for Lins:

200 – Rob Linsmayer is one of only 10 players in franchise history to play in 200 regular season games as a Steelhead, placing seventh on the Steelheads all-time ECHL list, six games behind defenseman Matt Case (206). In his entire professional career, Linsmayer has only played 11 games for another team, starting the 2013-14 season with the San Francisco Bulls before returning to Idaho.

57 – Linsmayer’s 57 career regular season goals are tied for fourth on the Steelheads’ all-time ECHL list with Jefferson Dahl and Scott Burt. Linsmayer and Dahl are neck-and-neck in several other categories, with Linsmayer’s 91 assists ranked fifth and one behind Dahl and his 148 points ranked sixth and also one in back of Dahl.

8 – Rob Linsmayer matched the longest points streak of his pro career with points in eight straight games from March 11th to March 29th. During that stretch, Linsmayer posted four goals and 11 points. During the 2015-16 campaign, Linsmayer had another eight-game streak with three goals and 12 points from October 30th to November 13th.

16 – In his pro career, Linsmayer has scored against 16 different ECHL teams.Five of those teams are no longer in the league – San Francisco, Stockton, Alaska, Bakersfield, and Las Vegas. Another team on the list is Idaho! Linsmayer scored against the Steelheads during his 11-game stint with the Bulls at the start of the 2013-14 season, one of only two goals in his career scored outside of a Steelheads sweater.

15 – Linsmayer put up 15 power play points last season, three goals and 12 assists, nearly doubling his previous career-high of eight points from the year prior. Those numbers were in part a credit to linemates Will Merchant and Jefferson Dahl combining for 18 power play goals, but Linsmayer’s power play presence has dramatically improved in the last two seasons. Since October of 2015, Linsmayer has 23 power play points compared to two power play goals and three power play points in parts of three prior seasons.

6 – Linsmayer was Idaho’s leading scorer in the playoffs with six points in the five games, losing both of his linemates to injury along the way. Linsmayer had a point in the first four games of the series, now giving him 14 points in 21 career playoff games for the Steelheads.

41 – For the third consecutive season, Linsmayer earned a positive plus/minus rating, finishing a plus-6. Linsmayer is a plus-41 in his Steelheads career, ranking second to only Blake Forsyth in the ECHL era.
