Boise, ID (4/5/17) –The ECHL announced on Wednesday afternoon that Steelheads goaltender Landon Bow has been named to the 2016-17 ECHL All-Rookie Team. Bow becomes the third goaltender in Steelheads history to earn the honor.
The ECHL All-Rookie Team is determined by a vote of ECHL coaches, broadcasters, media relations directors and media. The team is as follows:
G- Landon Bow, Idaho Steelheads
D- Kevin Schulze, Wheeling Nailers
D- Nolan Zajac, Toledo Walleye
F Mike Cazzola, Fort Wayne Komets
F Tylor Spink, Toledo Walleye
F Tyson Spink, Toledo Walleye
Bow, 21, has appeared in 26 ECHL games this season with the Steelheads and is among the league-leaders in several major categories. The St. Albert, Alberta native leads the ECHL with a 2.17 goals-against average and ranks second in the league with a .931 save percentage, just .02 percentage points behind leader Riley Gill of the Allen Americans. Bow also boasts an 18-6-2 record with two shutouts, both by a 1-0 score and on the road.
He was the ECHL’s runner-up for Goaltender of the Month during the month of February, when he went 5-1-1 with a 1.69 goals-against average and a .947 save percentage.
Bow began the season with Idaho while on an AHL contract with the Texas Stars. Bow has appeared in 16 games with the Stars this season, going 7-7-0. On March 10th, Bow signed his first NHL contract, a two-way entry-level deal with the Dallas Stars.
Bow is the first Steelhead to be named to the All-Rookie Team since the 2014-15 season, when Jason Bast was named as a forward after a 30-goal campaign. Other Steelheads to be named to the ECHL All-Rookie Team include William Rapuzzi (2012-13), Kael Mouillierat (2010-11), Richard Bachman (2009-10), and Frank Doyle (2004-05). Mouillierat and Bachman would go on to play in the National Hockey League.
