Snapping the Skid: The Idaho Steelheads look to get back in the win column this week when the Wheeling Nailers make their first ever visit to Boise. The defending Eastern Conference champions are 7-1-2 in their last ten games, while the Steelheads have points in two of the past six. The Steelheads and Nailers will play three games at CenturyLink Arena, where the Steelheads are 15-7-3 this season.
Faust is first: Joe Faust netted his 12th goal of the season to open the scoring against the Grizzlies on Saturday night, moving Faust back into the lead in goal-scoring among ECHL defensemen. Faust’s 12 goals are four times his career total entering the season. The former NJ Devils’ draft pick has scored six of his 12 goals on home ice.
Short-Handed Command: The Steelheads have been plenty dangerous lately when playing a man down. The Steelheads have scored seven short-handed goals this season, four of them coming in the last eight games. Two of those have come from Kyle Jean, who has two shorties in the last four games and leads the Steelheads with three this season.
Eastern Confidence: The Steelheads have performed well against Eastern Conference opponents this season, though it has been a while since they faced a team from across the league. Idaho is 6-2-1 against Eastern team, their last game coming back on November 19th. That was a win over the Norfolk Admirals in Virginia.
