Boise, ID (2/13/17)— CenturyLink and the Idaho Steelheads invite all Idaho hockey fans to head down to CenturyLink Arena on March 12th for the annual CenturyLink Free Skate. Fans young and old are welcome to hit the CenturyLink Arena ice from 1 to 3pm and spend time with their favorite Steelheads players.
Players, coaches, and Blue will be in attendance to sign autographs and take photos, as well as to take a few spins around the rink with their fans. Those attending are encouraged to bring their own skates, but a limited number of pairs will be available on a first-come, first-served basis.
“Every year our players are overwhelmed by the tremendous love and support they get from Steelheads fans,” said Steelheads President Eric Trapp. “It’s wonderful for our fans to have the opportunity to spend some one-on-one time with the people in this organization, but it means just as much to our players that they have an opportunity to thank the passionate fans that fill this building every season.”
The Steelheads and CenturyLink will be accepting donations of canned food during the event. Fans making donations will receive two tickets to the Steelheads’ March 15th home game against the Rapid City Rush.
“CenturyLink strives to improve our customers’ lives by connecting them to the power of the digital world and enhance the communities we serve in a meaningful way,” said Jim Schmit, CenturyLink’s Vice President of Operations for Idaho, Montana, and Wyoming. “The partnership between CenturyLink and the Steelheads is a testament to our ongoing commitment to our customers and our community.”
The free skate also marks the conclusion of this year’s CenturyLink Hat Trick Reading Program, presented by the Idaho Statesman. This annual partnership between CenturyLink, the Idaho Statesman, the Steelheads, and public libraries in the Treasure Valley encourages young hockey fans and their families to sit down and read together. By reaching certain literary benchmarks with their families, young readers are able to win Steelheads tickets and hats.
All participants of the program are encouraged to join the festivities at CenturyLink Arena.
