Grizzly Games: The Steelheads return to CenturyLink Arena to open the month of February and a six-game home stand with three games against the Utah Grizzlies. The Steelheads are 1-2-2 against Utah this season, and the Grizzlies will be coming to Boise for the first time since the home-opening weekend in October.
A Will and a Way: Will Merchant scored in each of the Steelheads’ final two games in Alaska, now giving him 14 goals and 32 points this season, ranking ninth among rookies in scoring. Merchant leads all rookies with eight power play goals and 16 power play points. The rookie has seven goals and 15 points in his last 13 games.
Home Cookin’: The Steelheads are back on home soil, where they have gone 15-5-2 this season. The Steelheads are 6-2-1 in their last nine home games, averaging 4.22 goals scored per game over that stretch. With 32 points, the Steelheads have the fourth-most points at home in the ECHL.
Fighting Late: The Steelheads battled back from a two-goal deficit on Saturday night to earn a point in overtime in Alaska. The Steelheads have been one of the league’s best teams this year when trailing late. Their 12 points in games they trail after two periods is the second-highest total in the ECHL this season.
