Boise, ID (12/20/16) –Steelheads Head Coach and Director of Hockey Operations Neil Graham announced on Tuesday morning that defenseman Joe Faust has signed a professional tryout agreement with the American Hockey League’s Texas Stars.
Faust, 25, is the fourth Steelhead under ECHL contract this season to head to the AHL. Forward Travis Ewanyk played one game this season with Texas, while forward Kellan Lain played two with AHL Bakersfield. Forward Bryce Van Brabant, who agreed to an ECHL contract with Idaho over the summer, has been with Texas on a professional tryout since the beginning of the season.
Faust has played all 27 games in his first season with the Steelheads. A former fourth-round draft pick of the New Jersey Devils in 2010, Faust’s seven goals this season are already a career-high and tied for the league-lead among defenseman. His 17 points are tied for ninth among ECHL blue-liners. Faust had three points in his last three games for Idaho.
The Bloomington, Minnesota native has played 34 AHL games in his career with the Albany Devils from 2014-2016, collecting a goal and three assists.
