Kellan Lain heads to AHL Bakersfield

Boise, ID (11/9/16) –Steelheads Head Coach and Director of Hockey Operations Neil Graham announced on Wednesday that forward Kellan Lain has joined the Bakersfield Condors of the American Hockey League. Lain has signed a professional tryout agreement with the Condors after playing ten games with the Steelheads.

Lain, 27, had two goals and two assists with the Steelheads. The Oakville, Ontario native also logged 10 penalty minutes. Lain has played 104 career AHL games with the Chicago Wolves, Iowa Wild, Oklahoma City Barons, and Utica Comets, recording nine goals and 23 points.

The Steelheads still retain Lain’s ECHL rights. Lain is the second Steelhead under ECHL contract to earn a call to the AHL since the start of the season. Travis Ewanyk played a game with AHL Texas on October 25th. Bryce Van Brabant, who signed an ECHL contract with Idaho in the summer, has been with AHL Texas since training camp.
