Boise, ID (10/25/16) –The Steelheads confirmed two roster moves on Tuesday, as Head Coach and Director of Hockey Operations Neil Graham announced that rookie forward Coltyn Sanderson has been signed to an ECHL contract. Forward Travis Ewanyk has joined the American Hockey League’s Texas Stars on a professional tryout agreement.
Sanderson, 25, is set to begin his first professional season after playing four years of Division I college hockey at the University of North Dakota. Sanderson made great strides last year in his senior season after playing nine games in his first three years of college. As a senior, the Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan native played in 35 games, netting seven goals and recording 12 points. The 6-foot-1 forward earned the program’s Most Improved Player Award and was a national finalist for the Hockey Commissioners Association (HCA) Derek Hines Unsung Hero Award.
Sanderson attended training camp this fall with the Orlando Solar Bears.
Ewanyk, 23, joins AHL Texas after four games with the Steelheads, in which he totaled a goal and three assists with a plus-1 rating.
The Steelheads host the Reading Royals on Wednesday night at CenturyLink Arena for the first game of a three-game series. Puck-drop is scheduled for 7:10pm, with the game available on 1350KTIK, Cable One, and ECHLTV.
