#SteelTheOne: Steelheads Will Celebrate 20th Anniversary

With the 2016-17 season-opener quickly approaching, the Idaho Steelheads and CenturyLink Arena are excited to celebrate the 20th season of Steelheads hockey in the Treasure Valley!

With two Kelly Cup Championships, three conference titles, and 19 consecutive years of playoff hockey in downtown Boise, the Steelheads and their fans have a wealth of warm memories and history-making moments to relive as a promising squad fights for another championship.

“I’m very excited to be a part of the 20th season of Steelheads hockey,” said Steelheads Head Coach Neil Graham. “We have the best fans in the ECHL and we look forward to celebrating with them as we push to bring another Kelly Cup to Boise.”

Fans will catch glimpses of the Steelheads’ greatest moments during this season both at CenturyLink Arena on game nights and on the Steelheads social channels. The Steelheads have released a special 20th Anniversary logo, which will be featured on team media materials and as a shoulder patch on the Steelheads game jerseys. Fans can also look forward to anniversary-themed contests, prizes, and giveaways throughout the season.

On the web, the Steelheads will show classic video highlights and photographs from the past 20 years all season long, as well as current news and interviews with all-time Steelheads fan-favorites. The Steelheads also plan to host a special alumni game during the second half of the season, featuring many past Steelheads stars like Cal Ingraham, Marty Flichel, and many more!

“It’s incredible just how much hockey has grown in the Treasure Valley since the Steelheads first took the ice in 1997,” said Steelheads President Eric Trapp. “We’re looking forward to recognizing some of the unbelievable players and people who have been with us these past 20 years. We also have another great team this season and hope we can make some more history.”

Hockey fans in Idaho have made CenturyLink Arena a second home, getting their ‘Heads in the Game’ and ‘Making Downtown Come Alive’ every winter for 20 years. With so much success on the ice and so many incredible memories with the fans in this community, the Idaho Steelheads are excited for the best season yet and to prove once again that after all these years, for family fun and fast-paced action in Boise, we’re #SteelTheOne.
