The Grove Hotel, Idaho Steelheads & CenturyLink Arena Awarded Travel Industry Excellence Award

The Grove Hotel, CenturyLink Arena, and the Idaho Steelheads, collectively operated by Block 22, LLC, received the Travel Industry Excellence Award from the Boise Metro Chamber of Commerce earlier this week.  The award is given each year to a company that has made significant contributions in enhancing the Idaho travel industry through recreational opportunities, transportation, lodging options, tourism, or other offerings.

The companies, along with their 440 employees, have been a driving force in bringing top-rated entertainment to downtown Boise and enticing tourists throughout the Treasure Valley and beyond.  “We’ve had a tremendously successful year,” said Eric Trapp, President of the Steelheads and General Manager of CenturyLink Arena. “Together the organization offers a unique package for events, convention hotel rooms and entertainment all under one roof.  There is not another facility like ours in the region.”

Together, The Grove Hotel, CenturyLink Arena, and the Idaho Steelheads have attracted nearly 7 million people to downtown Boise by playing host to a variety of conventions & meetings as well as exciting sports attractions and other events.  As a privately funded facility, the owners contributed personally to funding the facility that competes with publically subsidized facilities.

Through community outreach programs, The Grove Hotel, CenturyLink Arena and Idaho Steelheads donate $200,000 donating countless volunteer hours toward building the community they work and live in.  This fall, the company is preparing to celebrate the 20th year of operation in the Boise community, continuing to build upon its legacy and contributing to the growth in tourism.

Key business partners of the organizations were also recognized during the Boise Metro Chamber of Commerce Excellence Awards including CenturyLink Arena sponsors: US Bank and Western Heating & Air Conditioning and hotel partner: Sound Wave Events.  US Bank was named the Financial Industry Excellence Award winner and Western Heating and Air Conditioning was recognized as 2016 Small Business of the Year (medium-sized company), while Sound Wave Events was a finalist for small business of the year (small-sized company).
