STEELHEADS POWER RANKINGS: Goalie Point Streaks

This is the weekly edition of Idaho Steelheads Power Rankings, where we at IdahoSteelheads.com will see where the Steelheads and their players rank among the best of the best in the ECHL.

The Steelheads continue to pile up the points, and goaltender Philippe Desrosiers has been a big part of that effort! Desrosiers has not been beaten in regulation since December 10, 2015, picking up a point in his last 12 consecutive starts for the Steelheads. Where does his 12 game points streak rank among the longest in Steelheads goaltending history? Let’s find out!

*All Statistics current as of 3/28*

The future NHL net-minder went 9-0-2 over those 11 decisions, with a goals-against average of 2.30 and a save percentage of .899. The Dallas Stars’ 2013 second-round selection is 9-0-3 in his last 12 appearances, giving up two goals or fewer in eight of those starts. That includes his first professional shutout, earned on March 12th against Rapid City.

3) Steve Silverthorn; 12-game unbeaten streak in 2006-07

The Steelheads’ all-time wins leader appears third on the list with a couple of impressive streaks during the 2006-07 season. Silverthorn won his first seven decisions of that season and earned a point in the first ten games, going 8-0-2. Add that to his two wins at the end of the previous season, and Silverthorn had a 12-game unbeaten streak. He made a major effort to match that mark later in the season, rattling off an 11-game streak in February and March that saw him go 9-0-2. SIlverthorn went 16-6-0 in the playoffs in earning a Kelly Cup Championship.

2) Frank Doyle; 13-game unbeaten streak in 2004-05

After finishing his college career at Maine, Frank Doyle got his professional start in Idaho where he played one season. Doyle was 32-13-4 that season and did a lot of his damage at the end of the season, going 11-0-2 from March 2nd to April 2nd. Doyle has played for ten teams over the course of an 11 year professional career, last playing with Sheffield of the EIHL last season.
