Boise, ID (3/15/16)— The Steelheads welcome all fans to join them at CenturyLink Arena on March 20th for the CenturyLink Free Skate, presented by the Idaho Statesman. Steelheads fans of all ages are welcomed to take to the ice at CenturyLink Arena from 2-4pm and skate alongside their favorite Steelheads players and coaches.
All members of the Steelheads team and staff will be on hand to sign autographs, take pictures, and show some skating skills to Steelheads fans. Blue, the Steelheads’ mascot, will also be in attendance to meet young Steelheads supporters. Those attending are encouraged to bring their own skates, but a limited number of pairs will be available for fan use.
Fans are also encouraged to bring a donation of canned food items to the arena with them. Fans who donate will receive two tickets to the Steelheads’ March 30th home game against the Utah Grizzlies.“Our fans have given us tremendous support again this season and we want to take this opportunity so that we and our players can thank them and spend some time with them,” said Steelheads President Eric Trapp. “We are grateful that CenturyLink, as well as the Idaho Statesman, have worked with us to make this terrific afternoon with our fans possible.”
The free skate also marks the conclusion of this year’s CenturyLink/Idaho Statesman Hat Trick Reading Program, a partnership between CenturyLink, the Idaho Statesman, the Steelheads, and public libraries in the Treasure Valley to encourage reading among young hockey fans. By reaching certain literary benchmarks with their families, young readers were able to win Steelheads tickets and hats. Those young fans are invited to take part in the event, as well.
The Steelheads are on home ice this weekend to face the Rapid City Rush on Friday and Saturday night, with puck-drop scheduled for 7:10pm. For tickets to all Idaho Steelheads home games, call 383-0080 or visit idahosteelheads.com.
