Boise, ID (2/25/16) – Idaho Steelheads Head Coach and Director of Hockey Operations Neil Graham announced on Thursday that goaltender Philippe Desrosiers (deh-ROH-see-ay, fih-LEEP) has joined the team in Boise. The rookie goaltender was reassigned to the Steelheads Thursday morning from the American Hockey League’s Texas Stars by the NHL’s Dallas Stars.
The 20 year-old goaltender returns to Idaho for the second time this season after starting the year with the Steelheads. Desrosiers was called up to AHL Texas on December 30th, making his AHL debut on January 3rd, and went 5-5-0 in ten starts with a goals-against average of 2.82 and a .903 save percentage.
In 20 games this season with the Steelheads, Desrosiers is 8-6-3 with a 2.46 goals-against average and a .907 save percentage. He was 5-0-1 in his last six starts prior to his recall to Texas.
The native of St. Hyacinthe, QC was a second round draft pick (54th overall) of the Dallas Stars in the 2013 NHL Draft. He was the named CHL Goaltender of the Year last season and won a Quebec Major Junior Hockey League Championship with Rimouski Oceanic in his final season of junior hockey.
Desrosiers’ reassignment comes after the Dallas Stars recalled goaltender Jack Campbell from Idaho to AHL Texas on Wednesday afternoon.
