Boise, ID (1/20/16)— Idaho Steelheads Head Coach and Director of Hockey Operations Neil Graham announced Wednesday that the Steelheads have acquired goaltender Branden Komm from the South Carolina Stingrays. The Texas Stars, Idaho’ AHL affiliate, have reassigned forward Brandon Magee from the Steelheads to the South Carolina Stingrays.
Komm, 24, is playing in his second professional season following four years between the pipes at Bentley University. The Williamsville, NY native is 6-2-0 in eight appearances this season, sporting a 1.89 goals-against average and a .923 save percentage, along with a shutout. Komm earned ECHL Goaltender of the Week honors for the week of December 21-27.
In 29 career games with the Stingrays, Evansville IceMen, and Cincinnati Cyclones, Komm is 10-12-3 with a 2.84 goals-against average and a .908 save percentage.
Komm won 47 games at Bentley University over four seasons from 2010 to 2014, being named to the Atlantic Hockey Conference’s Third All-Conference Team for the 2011-12 season and the Second All-Conference Team in 2013-14.
Magee is in his first professional season. He scored six goals and 15 points in 31 games with Idaho.
The Steelheads travel to face the Alaska Aces for three games in three nights this weekend, starting with Friday night’s game at Sullivan Arena. Puck-drop is scheduled for 9:15 MT, with the game available on ECHLTV and on 1350AM KTIK.
