Boise, ID (1/14/16)— Steelheads defenseman Zack Kamrass was recalled by the Texas Stars on Thursday, the American Hockey League affiliate of the Idaho Steelheads.
Kamrass, who is under AHL contract, joins the Stars for the first time after playing 43 professional games, all with the Steelheads.
Kamrass has collected three goals and 16 points in 37 games this year with Idaho. The native of Atlanta, Georgia joined the Steelheads last season after four years playing college hockey at UMass-Lowell. Kamrass potted two goals and five points in six games after joining Idaho at the end of last season, tacking on two assists in six playoff games.
At UMass-Lowell, Kamrass scored 64 points in 147 college games, served as captain in his senior season, and won an NCAA Hockey East Championship in 2013.
The Steelheads have six defensemen available on the roster for Friday’s contest against Tulsa. Defenseman Andrew Panzarella was activated off of reserve on Wednesday afternoon.
