Boise, ID (8/25/2015) – Head Coach and Director of Hockey Operations Neil Graham announced Tuesday that the ECHL’s Idaho Steelheads have agreed to terms with forward Damian Cross and defenseman Tim Billingsley.
Both players come from Carleton University in Ottawa, Ontario.
“Cross is an offensive-minded player who competes hard for pucks, has good finish and a nose for the net,” Graham said. “Billingsley is a big, steady defenseman who moves the puck well and is capable of playing in any situation on the ice.”
The 25-year-old Cross finished second on the Ravens in both goals (10) and assists (15) in 25 games last season while serving as the team’s captain. He led Carlton in goals with 16 the year before, finishing his two seasons at the school with an average of more than a point per game (54 points in 45 games).
Billingsley, 25, was drafted in the 7th round of the 2008 NHL draft by the Arizona Coyotes. In his four seasons with the Ravens, Billingsley skated in 85 games, nothing eleven goals and adding 43 assists.
The duo brings the total to seven rookies currently on the team’s training-camp roster, along with Jake Rutt, Chase Grant, Jake Fallon, Chance Braid and Cole Martin.
The Steelheads open the regular season on Friday, October 16, at home against the Rapid City Rush. It is the first of 36 home games, each of which will be played at CenturyLink Arena.
Season tickets are on sale now with full-season packages starting as low as $275 per seat for all 36 home games. Partial-season packages are also available. Contact the Idaho Steelheads at 208-383-0080 for more information or log on to www.idahosteelheads.com.
