Boise, ID (10/3/14) – Head Coach and Hockey Operations Director Brad Ralph announced Wednesday that defenseman Mike Dalhuisen has re-joined the ECHL’s Idaho Steelheads after being assigned to the team by Texas of the American Hockey League.
Dalhuisen (pronounced dal-WHEE-sen) has appeared in two regular-season games so far for Idaho, both on the road in Colorado. He didn’t register a point but did pick up a fighting major. He has skated in five games for Texas, Idaho’s AHL affiliate, notching a goal and 11 penalty minutes.
The second-year pro out of Quinnipiac University split last season between Stockton and Cincinnati of the ECHL while on assignment from the American Hockey League, collecting 30 points (nine goals, 21 assists) and 135 penalty minutes in 54 games.
He is expected to be available for Idaho when the team hosts Alaska Friday and Saturday at CenturyLink Arena. Saturday night is the annual Teddy Bear Toss event, where fans are encouraged to bring a plush, unbreakable toy to throw on the ice when Idaho nets its first goal of the game. The toys will be collected and donated to the United States Marine Corps “Toys for Tots” campaign. Fans who do not have a toy to throw at the game have an opportunity to buy one, while supplies last, from the Idaho Steelheads Booster Club.
Group outings at a Steelheads game are a great way to gather friends, colleagues, or co-workers for a fun night out in downtown Boise. Ticket prices are discounted and you can get a Pepsi, Double-R Ranch Hot Dog, and bag of chips with each ticket. Contact the Steelheads front office at 208.383.0080 or log on to www.idahosteelheads.com for more information.
