Boise, ID (10/14/14) – Head Coach and Director of Hockey Operations Brad Ralph announced Tuesday morning that forward Ludwig Karlsson has been added to the ECHL roster of the Idaho Steelheads.
The 23-year-old native of Stockholm, Sweden, was assigned to Idaho by the Dallas Stars, Idaho’s NHL affiliate.
Karlsson was acquired by the Stars organization over the summer as part of the trade that brought forward Jason Spezza to Dallas from the Ottawa Senators. This is the second consecutive season the Steelheads have seen piece of a big trade – Ryan Button, one of the team’s top defensemen last season, was acquired by the Stars organization as part of the trade that brought Tyler Seguin to Dallas from Boston.
This is the second professional season for Karlsson, who split last season between Elmira (ECHL) and Binghamton (AHL). He had 11 goals in 29 games at the ECHL level with the Jackals. He spent two seasons at Northeastern University (NCAA), leading the team in scoring (26 points) in his second season. The team’s second-leading scorer that season was Steve Quailer, who is also on Idaho’s roster.
The Steelheads open the regular season this week with a road game at Utah on Friday night. The home opener is Saturday night at 7 PM at CenturyLink Arena against the same Grizzlies team. Tickets are available by contacting the CenturyLink Arena box office at 208-331-8497.
Group outings at a Steelheads game are a great way to gather friends, colleagues, or co-workers for a fun night out in downtown Boise. Ticket prices are discounted and you can get a Pepsi, Double-R Ranch Hot Dog, and bag of Tim’s Cascade Chips with each ticket. Contact the Steelheads front office at 208.383.0080 or log on to www.idahosteelheads.com for more information.
