Boise, ID (9/26/14) – Idaho Steelheads Head Coach and Director of Hockey Operations Brad Ralph recently took a trip to the Magic Valley, about 130 miles south of Boise. He met with the local media, visited Shoshone Falls and took a driving tour of Twin Falls.
Along with t-shirts and other Steelheads-branded items, he left behind a challenge to the people of the area.
“We met people down there who regularly come to our games and we want that number to grow,” Ralph said. “So, if the sports fans of the Magic Valley can buy 200 tickets to our home opener, we’ll write a check for $1,000 to the Magic Valley Boys and Girls Club.”
Idaho’s home opener is Saturday, October 18, against the Utah Grizzlies. Game time is 7:10 PM with the doors opening at 6:30.
The Steelheads are partnering with Lee Family Broadcasting on the Magic Valley Challenge. Ryan Howe and Nick Ruland on ESPN Radio “The Zone” (97.5 FM/970 AM) helped announce the challenge to the Twin Falls area earlier this month.
Here’s how the challenge works – the Steelheads will open an internet link on October 1 to sports fans in the Magic Valley for the October 18 home opener. The link, available from "The Zone," will close the morning of the game. At that point, if 200 tickets have been sold, the Steelheads will donate $1,000 to the Magic Valley Boys and Girls Club. Each ticket will cost $15.
“We want to the communities in the Magic Valley to continue to be Steelheads fans,” Ralph continued. “But we’ve got to do our part, too, by supporting the Magic Valley.”
Group outings at a Steelheads game are a great way to gather friends, colleagues, or co-workers for a fun night out in downtown Boise. Ticket prices are discounted and you can get a Pepsi, Double-R Ranch Hot Dog, and bag of Tim’s Cascade Chips with each ticket.
