Boise, ID (6/13/14) – Head Coach and Director of Hockey Operations Brad Ralph announced two roster transactions Friday, the final day to close “future considerations” trades from the 2013-14 season.
First, Idaho has acquired the ECHL rights to goaltender Tyler Beskorowany from the Orlando Solar Bears to complete the November trade that sent defenseman Connor Goggin to the Solar Bears. The 24-year-old is no stranger to Steelheads fans, appearing in 52 games over two seasons while under contract with the Dallas Stars organization. With Idaho, Beskorowany posted a 27-17-7 record with three shutouts and a .918 save percentage.
He split last season at the ECHL level between San Francisco and Orlando before being called up by St. John’s of the American Hockey League. With the IceCaps, he went 7-2-2 with a .932 save percentage during the regular season and is serving as one of the team’s two goaltenders in the AHL Calder Cup final against Idaho's AHL affiliate, the Texas Stars. Beskorowany appeared in 51 games with Texas as well while under contract with Dallas.
Idaho (ECHL) and Texas (AHL) are the primary development affiliates of the NHL's Dallas Stars. The American Hockey League is the highest level of minor-league hockey in North America.
Secondly, Idaho has traded the ECHL rights for forward William Rapuzzi to the Toledo Walleye to complete the February acquisition of defenseman Russ Sinkewich. Rapuzzi, 24, led Idaho in scoring during the regular season with 58 points in 60 games and became the first Steelhead player to be named ECHL Rookie of the Year.
Season tickets for the 2014-15 season are already on sale, starting at just $275 to secure the same seat for all 36 home games. There are also partial-season plans available for fans seeking more flexibility. Contact the Steelheads front office at 208.383.0080 or log on to www.idahosteelheads.com for more information.
