Boise, ID (3/6/14) – A popular promotion returns to CenturyLink Arena this weekend when the Idaho Steelheads wear pink-themed jerseys as part of “Pink in the Rink,” benefitting St. Luke’s Mountain States Tumor Institute.
The Steelheads will wear the jerseys Friday and Saturday night when the team takes on the Las Vegas Wranglers at CenturyLink Arena. Game time both nights is 7:10 PM and tickets can be purchased at www.idahosteelheads.com. The jerseys will be auctioned off via silent auction during the games with 100 percent of the proceeds going directly to MSTI.
The Steelheads have been doing jersey auctions to benefit local charities and non-profit organizations since 1998, raising more than $450,000 along the way. The “Pink in the Rink” jerseys have been especially popular – two of Idaho’s top jersey auctions of all time have been “Pink in the Rink” jerseys. The 2005-06 jerseys drew over $22,000 while the 2007-08 jerseys remain the standard-bearer, raising just under $28,000 in bids to benefit St. Luke’s as the top-selling jersey auction ever for the Steelheads.
The jerseys will be auctioned off via silent auction behind Section 113 on the CenturyLink Arena concourse during Friday and Saturday’s home games. Fans are encouraged to place bids on the sheets of their favorite players with the winning bidder having the opportunity to head down to ice-level following Saturday night’s game to get the jersey from the player.
This is the final “specialty” jersey auction the Steelheads will host this season. The Idaho Steelheads Booster Club will host a jersey auction for one of the sets of game-worn jerseys from this season later in the campaign.
Group outings at a Steelheads game are a great way to gather friends, colleagues, or co-workers for a fun night out in downtown Boise. Ticket prices are discounted and you can get a Pepsi, Double-R Ranch Hot Dog, and bag of Tim’s Cascade Chips with each ticket.
