Boise, ID (3/19/14) – Head Coach and Director of Hockey Operations Brad Ralph announced Wednesday morning that goaltender Josh Robinson has been reassigned by the Texas Stars of the American Hockey League to the ECHL’s Idaho Steelheads.
The team has also agreed to terms with rookie defenseman Andrew Perrault out of Lake Superior State University (NCAA). Perrault is expected to make his professional debut Wednesday night when the Steelheads host the Colorado Eagles at CenturyLink Arena. Game time is 7 PM.
Robinson, the reigning team MVP, has split the season between Idaho and Texas. With Idaho, the second-year pro is 9-6-1 with a 2.77 goals-against average. In Texas, he’s 6-6 with a 3.30 goals-against average. His 36 wins with Idaho are the third-most in the team’s ECHL era, behind Steve Silverthorn (68) and Rejean Beauchemin (42).
Perrault (pronounced perr-OH) just completed his college career at Lake Superior State, the same program that produced former Steelheads Kory Scoran, Steven Oleksy, Chad Nehring, Tyson Hobbins and Matt Cowie along with current Idaho goaltender Kevin Kapalka. He ranked in the team’s top three in blocked shots in three of his four seasons at the school and chipped in a career-best 14 points as a junior.
Idaho has released forwards Dan DeLisle (1G/3A in 22 games) and Ryan Murphy (1G in 3 games).
