Coyle, Case return from AHL

Coyle, Case return from AHL

Boise, ID (3/15/13) ? Head Coach and Director of Hockey Operations Brad Ralph announced Friday morning that defensemen Jace Coyle and Matt Case have each been returned to the Idaho Steelheads from American Hockey League teams. Both Coyle (Texas) and Case (Manchester) have joined the Steelheads in Anchorage, AK, and are expected to be available Friday night when Idaho plays the Alaska Aces. Game time is 9:15 PM (Mtn) and can be heard live on KTIK 1350-AM in the Treasure Valley. Ralph announced that goaltender Tyler Beskorowany has been summoned from Idaho to Texas of the AHL as well. The American Hockey League is the highest level of minor-league hockey in North America. Also, rookie defenseman William Lacasse has been released. Coyle (6 goals, 18 assists, plus-13) and Case (6 goals, 29 assists, plus-31) bring a combined total of 59 points and a plus-44 rating to the Idaho blue line. Case leads the ECHL in plus/minus rating and has already established new career highs in goals, assists and points in his third season out of Ferris State. Coyle's near point-per-game average (24 points, 30 games) also represents a career best in his second professional season out of Medicine Hat of the Western Hockey League. Lacasse, 25, provided valuable minutes over 20 games as the team's post-NHL-lockout roster fluctuated due to AHL callups. The first-year pro scored his first two ECHL goals, finishing with five points (two goals, three assists) and a plus-5 rating. With Beskorowany's callup, the team has added Jon Olthius as emergency backup goaltender for this weekend's games against Alaska. Olthius played two seasons for Ralph with Augusta of the SPHL after playing his college hockey at Alaska-Anchorage. Idaho returns home next week for its final three home games of the regular season, hosting the Ontario Reign on Wednesday (March 20), Friday (March 22) and Saturday (March 23).
