(Boise, ID) ? A key member of the 2006-07 ECHL Kelly Cup championship team is returning to the Idaho Steelheads as defenseman Kory Scoran has agreed to terms with the club. The durable, 6-foot-3 Scoran appeared in 239 regular and post-season games with the Steelheads between 2006 and 2009. He skated in 22 playoff games in the spring of 2007, notching three goals, as Idaho defeated the Dayton Bombers for the organization?s second Kelly Cup championship. ?This is home now,? Scoran said of his return. ?I?m thrilled to be back, I?m ready to put on a Steelhead sweater and get back on the ice in front of the fans here in Boise.? Scoran played in Europe during the 2009-10 season before spending last season with the Wichita Thunder of the Central Hockey League. With the Thunder, Scoran scored a career-best 12 goals and tallied a career-high 34 points. The Winnipeg, Manitoba, native made his debut with the Steelheads late in the 2005-06 season after wrapping up his college career at Lake Superior State. His measurable statistics increased each season with Idaho, from 21 points (two goals, 19 assists) as a rookie in 2006-07 to 33 points (five goals, 28 assists) in 2008-09. In all, Scoran netted 15 goals between the regular season and playoffs in his first go-round with the Steelheads. He added 71 assists as well for a three-season total of 86 points in his 239 games. He has played 264 regular-season games between the ECHL and CHL, which classifies him as a ?veteran.? ECHL teams are allowed up to four veterans on their active roster during the regular season. Head coach and director of hockey operations Hardy Sauter now has five defensemen on his training camp roster ? Scoran, Matt Case, Chris Hepp, Matt Cowie, and Cam Ritchie. A sixth player, Ryan Rorabeck, was a forward in junior hockey and defenseman in college and Sauter says he?s capable of playing in either role.
