(Boise, ID) ? Head coach and director of hockey operations Hardy Sauter announced Wednesday morning that the Idaho Steelheads have signed forward Chad Nehring to an Amateur Tryout Agreement (ATO). Nehring (pronounced NAIR-ing) will make his professional debut Wednesday night when the Steelheads host Ontario. He will wear jersey no. 25. The 23-year-old Saskatchewan native just completed his college eligibility at Lake Superior State, where he was a teammate of Steelheads defenseman Steve Oleksy for two seasons. In four years with the Lakers, Nehring tallied 30 goals and 23 assists. His eight goals this season as a senior was good for third on the squad. Roster Note: The Steelheads have released goaltender Dusty Carlson from his ATO and signed him to a standard player contract. Carlson joined the team last week in Stockton from Ohio State, appearing in three games with a 3.05 goals-against average. ?Pink in the Rink? Week is here ? the Idaho Steelheads will host the Ontario Reign on Wednesday, Friday, and Saturday night at Qwest Arena. The team will be wearing specially-themed pink jerseys that will be auctioned off to raise money to fight breast cancer. Contact the Steelheads front office at 208.383.0080 for more information.
