(Boise, ID) ? Head coach and director of hockey operations Hardy Sauter announced Wednesday afternoon that forward Chad Nehring and goaltender Jerry Kuhn have signed contracts with the Idaho Steelheads. The pair will be in uniform Wednesday night when Idaho plays its final home game of the regular season against the Utah Grizzlies at 7 PM at Qwest Arena in Boise. Kuhn, 25, joins the Steelheads from Western Michigan University where he just backstopped the Broncos to the round of 16 in the NCAA?s ?Frozen Four? hockey tournament. Kuhn (pronounced Coon, like ?raccoon?) finished the season with a 2.35 goals-against average in 29 games for the Broncos. He was named the CCHA Goaltender of the Week on February 28 following a 35-save shutout of Notre Dame, who is one of the four remaining teams in the ?Frozen Four? tournament. Nehring competed for the Steelheads last week on an amateur tryout agreement. In three games, the rookie out of Lake Superior State had an assist. He is now on a standard player contract. Roster Note: The Steelheads also activated forward Tristan King from the 21-day injured list. The 20-year-old forward will be back in the lineup on Wednesday for the first time since February 11. King has two goals and eight assists in 21 games this season. The ECHL?s Kelly Cup Playoffs are right around the corner and the Idaho Steelheads are out to defend their conference title from last season. Fans can lock in their favorite seat for every possible home playoff game while saving up to 35 percent off the walk-up prices with the ?Pay as We Play? playoff ticket plan.
