(Boise, ID) ? The ECHL announced Thursday that Idaho Steelheads goaltender Tyler Beskorowany has been named the league?s Goaltender of the Month for January. The 20-year-old Beskorowany went 4-0-1 with a .947 save percentage and 1.74 goals-against average during January and also represented the Steelheads in the 2011 ECHL All-Star Classic in Bakersfield, where he stopped 13 of the 15 shots he faced. He stopped at least 33 shots in four of the five games he played during the month, including 39 saves in a 2-1 win over division-leading Utah on January 21. For the season, Beskorowany leads the ECHL in goals-against average (2.01) and save percentage (.938) in 16 games with the Steelheads with an overall record in net of 9-3-4. He has also spent considerable time with Idaho?s American Hockey League affiliate, the Texas Stars, where he went 4-4 with a .925 save percentage in eight appearances. He has posted one shutout each for Idaho and Texas. He?s the fourth Idaho netminder to be named the Goaltender of the Month by the ECHL. Frank Doyle (October 2004), Steve Silverthorn (November 2006) and Matt Climie (March 2009) are the other three. The Hanmer, Ontario, native was a second-round draft pick of the NHL?s Dallas Stars in 2008 out of the Ontario Hockey League, an elite junior-hockey league in Canada. Idaho is the ECHL affiliate of the Dallas Stars (NHL) and Texas Stars (AHL). The Steelheads return to the ice on Wednesday, February 9, against the Bakersfield Condors at Qwest Arena in Boise.
