(Boise, ID) - The Idaho Steelheads announced that this month's throwback jersey auction raised $8,015 for St. Luke's Idaho Elks Children's Rehab, bringing the total raised by the Steelheads for the rehab facility to over $38,000.St. Luke's and the Steelheads have teamed up a number of times on jersey auctions, including five times to benefit the Elks Rehab facility. Long-time Steelhead favorite Marty Flichel drew the high bid in the two-night event, generating $500 for his jersey. Rookie Matt Tassone was one of several players whose jersey generated a winning bid of $400.The Steelheads have been doing jersey auctions to benefit the local community since 1998. In that time, the team now raised over $330,000 through the auctions via charities and non-profit organizations. The team?s jersey auctions raised nearly $30,000 alone during the 2009-2010 season. There will be one more jersey auction this season. The team will don pink jerseys in March for the highly-popular "Pink in the Rink" event to support breast-cancer research.The Steelheads conclude a weekend set at Qwest Arena against the first-place Utah Grizzlies on Saturday night.
