(Boise, ID) ? The Idaho Steelheads, in conjunction with the AIM Companies, announced Tuesday that this weekend?s games against the Stockton Thunder have been dubbed ?Protect Idaho Kids Weekend? at Qwest Arena. Fans will have the opportunity at Idaho?s games on Friday and Saturday night to donate new children?s mittens, socks, and stocking caps that will be distributed to needy children in our community. ?Protect Idaho Kids? will also be giving away new children?s bicycles and gift cards to Dillard?s during the games. Olympic bronze-medalist speed skater JR Celski is coming from Seattle to attend Saturday night?s game. Other prominent dignitaries, such as Mrs. Boise, Miss Western Idaho and Dennis Itami, the co-owner of the AIM Companies, will be in attendance as well. Celski (pronounced SELL-ski) will address the crowd during the first intermission on Saturday night. Protect Idaho Kids, a local non-profit organization, has a mission to educate, inform, and create awareness of resources available in our community to help keep our children safe. The organization?s ultimate goal is to make Idaho the safest state in the union for kids. The Steelheads are home this week, hosting the Stockton Thunder. It?s a ?Twice the Ice? week for the Steelheads ? fans purchasing a ticket to Wednesday night?s game can purchase a seat for Saturday night?s contest between the Steelheads and Thunder for just $7. Tickets can be purchased by calling the Qwest Arena box office (208.331.TIXS) or visiting www.idahosteelheads.com.
