Steelheads, Laxdal agree to contract extension

(Boise, ID) ? The ECHL?s Idaho Steelheads have extended the contract of head coach Derek Laxdal, giving him a two-year extension through the 2011-2012 season. Prior to the extension, Laxdal was entering the final year of a two-year contract. ?His record speaks for itself,? Steelheads President Eric Trapp said. ?We?re thrilled to have this done and to have him want to stay a part of the Steelheads organization.? Laxdal, entering his fifth season with Idaho, has a career record of 171-91-28 since taking over as the Steelheads? head coach prior to the 2005-2006 season. Each of Laxdal?s Steelhead teams has won at least 40 games and reached the postseason. The 43-year-old head coach led Idaho to an ECHL Kelly Cup championship in 2007. ?I owe a lot of thanks to the management and ownership of the Idaho Steelheads for the faith they?ve placed in me,? Laxdal said. ?Boise is a great city with great fans and my family and I are excited to move forward and continue to build on the winning tradition with the Steelheads.? Season-ticket packages for the 2009-2010 season are available now, starting as low as $450 per seat for all 36 home games. Partial-season ticket packages are available for as little as $150. New this season is the all-inclusive ?Gold Membership.? Contact the Steelheads front office at 208.383.0080 for more information.
