Former Burn player continues fight for NFL job in training camp

Turns out there are multiple reasons for local football fans to keep their eyes on the NFL preseason game being played in Indianapolis Friday night. Former Boise Burn offensive lineman Kyle DeVan is listed as the third-string center for the NFL?s Indianapolis Colts as the team prepares for its exhibition opener against the Minnesota Vikings. The Vikings, as has been talked about frequently in the local media, have a pair of former Boise State football standouts (RB Ian Johnson, WR Vinny Perretta) battling for roster spots. DeVan started three games at center with the Burn in April before being signed by the Colts. He?ll be wearing jersey no. 66, but look carefully?there are two players assigned that number for the Colts right now. The other is defensive lineman Ed Johnson. DeVan is the second former Burn player to join an NFL training camp after suiting up with the af2 franchise. Linebacker Mickey Pimantel, who played one game for the Burn in 2008, went on to spend the rest of the summer in training camp with the Atlanta Falcons.
