Burn twisting the night away

It was an all around effort as the Boise Burn opened up their first ever post season with an impressive 77-36 victory over the Arkansas Twisters. It didn?t take long for rookie quarterback Mark Thorson (making first career start) to make his mark in the post season. The Western Oregon product found Nichiren Flowers open in the end zone for the 25 yard score on the first offensive play of the game. Arkansas answered 6 and half minutes later with a Kyle Rowley to Jeron Harvey 14 yards score, but a failed P.A.T. gave the Burn the 7-6 lead after the first quarter. Following a Rowley 6 yard TD pass to Harvey, giving the Twisters their first lead of the game on the first play of the second frame, Boise outscored the Twisters 21-0. Marcus Lawrence (Aaron?s Defensive Player of the Game) started the run with his first interception of his career, returning it 16 yards for the score and the 14-12 lead. On the ensuing kick off, Maurice Banks recovered the ball off the net for his first career score for the 21-12 lead and the Burn would never look back. Casey Allen?s 26 yard TD with :39 left in the half gave Boise the 28-12 lead going into the half. The second half was all Boise as Nichiren Flowers (Russell Athletic Offensive Player of the Game) scored 3 third quarter TD?s, Jomo Wilson (JLS Ironman of the Game) returned an interception for a TD and scored on a 1 yard run and Marcus Lawrence (Aaron?s Defensive Player of the Game) capped off a career night returning a Bernard Morris fumble 32 yards for the score as the Burn outscored the Twisters 49-24 over the final 30 minutes cruising to the 77-36 victory. The Burn now head to Spokane for a National conference semi-final match-up with the #1 seed Shock. Date and time of game TBD. Game Notes: Alex Guerrero recorded his 5th rushing TD of the season, while recording 1.5 sacks on defense bringing his season total to 12. Levi Madarieta had 2 interceptions giving him 9 on the season.
